Associate Participation at Annual Session 2005 in San Francisco
Indiana's Doctors Dilemma Team - 2005 Annual Session
This is the second year that the Indiana ACP Chapter has participated in the National Doctor's Dilemma Competition. The honor of fielding the team went to Ball Memorial Hospital for winning the chapter's Doctor's Dilemma Competition at the Indiana Associates Meeting. This is the second year in a row that Ball Memorial has represented Indiana. Congratulations is extended to the team for reaching the national competition, and we look forward to next year's competition.
Indiana Associate Wins Associate Poster Competition
Congratulations to Sudhir Kapoor, MD! Sudhir is one of five winners of the 2005 ACP Associate Poster Competition. With over 1800 abstracts submitted this year and over 150 presented at Annual Session, this is quite an accomplishment. Sudhir is a resident in the Indiana University School of Medicine Program. A copy of his abstract ("Difference in Permeability of Cardiac Gap Junction Channels Formed by Connexin 43 and Connexin 45") can be found in the section of the Chapter website listing all of the 2004 winners in the Chapter's local Associate abstract competition.
We were honored to have seven Associate members represent our Chapter at Annual Session in San Francisco as Poster Finalists.
- Daniel A. Anzaldua, MD from St. Vincent's Hospital was selected as a poster finalist in the category of Associate Clinical Vignette for his poster, An Incidental Finding of a Rare Kidney Disease.
- Nazem Akoum, MD from Indiana University has been selected as a poster finalist in the category of Associate Research for his poster, A Carboxyl-Tailless Mutant of Connexin43.
- Irshad Alam, MD from Indiana University School of Medicine was selected as a poster finalist in the category of Associate Research for her poster, Prognostic Value of Improvement in Ejection Fraction.
- Sudhir Kapoor, MD from Indiana University School of Medicine was selected as a poster finalist in the category of Associate Research for his poster, Difference in Permeability of Cardiac Gap Junction Channels.
- Bilal Khan, MD from Indiana University has been selected as a poster finalist in the category of Associate Research for his poster, Quest for Improved Diagnostic Accuracy.
- Christina M. Laukaitis, MD from St. Vincent's Hospital was selected as a poster finalist in the category of Associate Research for her poster, Where and When are ABP-like Gene Copies Expressed.
- Faraz Sandhu, MD from Indiana University School of Medicine was selected as a poster finalist in the category of Associate Research for his poster, Permeability and Directional Selectivity.
National ACP Committee Appointments

Indiana's Doctors Dilemma Team - 2004 Annual Session
This is the first year that the Indiana ACP Chapter has participated in the National Doctor's Dilemma Competition. Congratulations is extended to the team for reaching the national competition, and we look forward to next year's competition.
Bravo to Dr. Lawrence H. Einhorm from Indianapolis. He formally accepted his Mastership at the 2004 Annual Session in New Orleans. He was awarded Mastership last year, but was unable to attend the 2003 Annual Session. To be considered for Mastership, the candidate must have made a notable contribution to medicine. This includes but is not limited to teaching, outstanding work in clinical medicine (research or practice), contributions to preventive medicine, improvements in the delivery health care, or contributions to medical literature.
Congratulations to Victoria Walker, MD from St. Vincent Hospitals and Health Services in Indianapolis. She was a Clinical Vignette Paper Winner in the Associates Abstract Competition for her abstract titled: Choreoathetosis with Dopamine. Dr. Walker presented her award-winning work at the 2004 Annual Session held in New Orleans, April 22-24, 2004.
Special congratulations to Paul Chestovich from Indiana University. He was selected as a Poster Winner in the Research Category for the Medical Students Abstract Competition. His poster winning abstract was on the Expression of NKX6.1 and OLIG Transcription Factors in the Developing Inner Ear. Mr. Chestovich presented his award-winning work at the 2004 Annual Session held in New Orleans, April 22-24, 2004
