Vision Statement
We must stand together as physicians to improve medical practice and clinical outcomes while we ensure the professionalism of medicine remains intact. My background and experience on both the provider and payer side of the business provides me with a unique perspective to positively influence healthcare reform. If given the opportunity to become your Governor, I will work hard to eliminate health disparities targeting the needs of minorities, the poor and the uninsured. I will advance safety and quality initiatives through lean healthcare redesign eliminating waste in the system. I will promote the value of healthcare dollars spent through aligning patient and provider incentives. Lastly, I will work to ensure that medical payment policy is fair while incorporating comparative effectiveness research promoting evidence-based decision making. I view the current healthcare transformation paradigm as the perfect storm and an opportunity of a lifetime to make a difference.

Vision Statement
Healthcare and healthcare reform is the most significant issue currently facing healthcare in general and physicians specifically. We are at a pivotal time in medicine. It is not a question if healthcare will be changed but a matter of how and what impact that change will have on physicians. Internist have and will continue to take a central role in any change that comes about and are one of the best groups equipped to help shape the future of medicine. The American College of Medicine has always been at the forefront of health and public policy. The ACP Governors are in a unique position to influence the monumental decisions that are to come, advocate for our patients and physicians and improve the delivery of high quality medical care. In addition, our state chapters have the opportunity to influence similar issues within our state. Lastly, the ACP state chapters can have a significant role in influencing medical student career choices in Internal Medicine and primary care. As Governor, I would push to advance the above issues in the state of Iowa.
