This is the first edition of a newsletter intended to help inform Young Physicians in Delaware of events and news that matter to them. A Young Physician is defined as anyone within 16 years of graduating medical school. You can find more information on the Young Physicians Web site.
Young Physicians Networking Event
The Delaware Chapter will be hosting a networking event this week on Thursday May 13th, 2010 at 6:30pm located at the Christiana Hilton. This event is co-hosted with Duffie & Associates, a franchise advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services, Inc. Beer and wine, as well as heavy Hors D'oeuvers, will be served. A short informal seminar on financial planning will be given. Two financial planners will be present to answer any of your financial questions as well. The rest of the time will be for young physicians to network with their colleagues. Leadership Day 2010
May 18-19, 2010 is Leadership Day in Washington D.C. Come to meet face to face with your DE congressional delegation! This year we have 3 ACP members and 3 Associates going to Washington, DC. The ACP members are Dan Elliott, MD, Henry Weiner, MD, Rod Tanchanco, MD, FACP. Christiana Care residents Karla Testa and Matt Barret, as well as medical student Peter Burke (PCOM) will also be joining them. Pri-Med Access with ACP, June 8-9 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center
ACP has partnered with Pri-Med Institute to offer a two-day live CME program (13.2 credits potentially) at no cost to ACP members. The educational content is ACP-driven and the feedback that we’ve gotten is that it is high quality. Learn more....

Nominations for new local Council of Young Physicians
Nominations for new local Council of Young Physician (CYP) members are now being accepted. The usual term is 2-3 years and the commitment is flexible based upon your availability. You may submit a nomination (self-nominations are accepted) to ERobinson@christianacare.org. This should include a CV, and a short (1 page max) statement answering the question “What role can the local Council of Young Physicians play in creating an environment in which ACP members are more likely to actively participate at the chapter level?" The deadline for nominations is June 15th.

Highlights from Internal Medicine 2010 in Toronto!
Whether you attended the meeting or not, you can get the highlights from Internal Medicine 2010 through several outreach programs. ACP Internist broadcasted daily e-newsletters and blog posts of topics for further insight and discussion. News releases and briefings are posted in ACP News. The LEAD (Leadership Enhancement and Development) program was created by ACP to help identify internists early in their careers and offers them a variety of activities designed to provide them with the skills, resources, and experiences necessary to become effective leaders in any setting. The LEAD certificate can be obtained by completing many leadership development activities with-in a three-year time frame. Learn more...
