Vision Statement
My vision for Governor of the ACP Alberta Region is to promote Internal Medicine within the broader community of Alberta and specifically to potential trainees in Internal Medicine. I would plan to promote Internal Medicine as a role model in my activities as a clinician, health advocate, educator and researcher. I would specifically plan to visit the Faculties of Medicine in Edmonton and Calgary to promote careers of Internal Medicine and membership in the American College of Physicians. I would look forward to representing the American College of Physicians in the annual Rocky Mountain Internal Medicine meeting in Alberta. Further I would plan to encourage the American College of Physicians to play an increased advocacy role to improve population health through involvement in ongoing national programs.

Vision Statement
In the past number of years I have been encouraged by a resurgence of interest in GIM within Canada and particularly Alberta. One striking feature that I have also noted through my affiliations within the discipline is that we are a collection of strong individuals, but rarely coalesce to significantly influence the factors that affect our daily practice on a large scale with respect to patient care, patient advocacy and health care within our province. The Alberta Chapter of the ACP can provide a focus to allow the increasing interest in GIM and also provide a broad forum for all GIM practitioners to interact and network to enhance and build on the work already completed by the chapter. I would also envision strengthening the links between our partner organizations such as the CSIM and the AMA Section of Internal Medicine in order to unify our voice outside the discipline.
