Gov. Schwarzenegger proposes to slash $2.8 billion more from State Programs
Governor Schwarzenegger has proposed some budget cuts that are not only fiscally unwise but also are dangerous to the health of Californians. He has proposed eliminating California's Poison Control Service and the Healthy Families (read SCHIP) programs. These are relatively small budget amounts but the Feds pay us >50% of the costs to run both those programs.
It has been suggested that the Democratic majority will never allow these proposals to pass but I would urge each of you to call the governor's office (916-445-2841) and your local Assembly and Senate memberto make certain to express your opinions.
California deserves better than this.
Thanks,
George W. Meyer, MD, FACP
Northern California Governor
