2008 Abstract Competition

We are pleased to announce the Call for Abstracts for the 2008 ACP Southern California Regions I, II, and III Scientific Meeting, which will be held October 17-19, 2008 at the Hyatt Grand Champions Resort & Spa in Indian Wells. The deadline for abstract submissions is September 30, 2008.

This is an ACP Associates' and Medical Students' competition. First author and presenter must be an ACP Associate or Medical Student with current membership status. Limit of one (1) entry per first author. Please use the online abstract form for all submissions.

Please note that participants in the competition must also register for the chapter meeting or their poster will not be accepted. Abstracts will be accepted into one of two categories: Clinical Vignette (reports of one or more cases that illustrate a rare disease entity or an unusual clinical presentation of an established disease) or Research (clinical and/or laboratory research, delineating a new investigation into mechanisms of disease or consisting of a detailed review of a clinical problem).

The body of the Clinical Vignette Abstract should be organized as follows:

  • Title and Author information
  • Introduction
  • Case description
  • Discussion

The body of the Research Abstract should be organized as follows:

  • Title and Author information
  • Introduction
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusions

Each abstract will be ranked by scientific merit, originality, presentation and clinical application. The abstract selection is competitive and not all abstracts submitted will be selected for presentation.

Posters cannot be larger than 4' tall x 6' wide and be no more than 500 words. The poster competition schedule during the meeting on October 18 is as follows: hang posters from 7:30-10:30 a.m.; poster viewing is 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; poster judging will be conducted 2:30-4:00 p.m., and awards will be presented from 4:00-4:30 p.m.

We highly encourage you to submit early to ensure your abstract is received. You will receive an e-mail notification once your abstract has been successfully submitted. Please use your most used e-mail address when submitting the abstract. All communication regarding the abstract competition will be sent electronically.
