Patient Access to Medical Records
Patients and their legal representatives generally have a right to their medical records. All they need to do is make a written request and pay a fee.
The rules are slightly different depending on whether the physician or other health care provider is covered by HIPAA Privacy Rules.
The Los Angles Times recently posted an article about the difficulties patients experience in requesting their medical records.
