Over the next few years, we face significant challenges to continue to provide high quality care in a system that is rapidly approaching its funding limits to support the technological and personalized resources that are needed to provide this type of care to the entire population and all of our communities. We are at the same time pushing the envelope of trying to deliver the best care at the lowest cost and trim costs through efficiencies and self-imposed reductions. We need to work as a team not only in the field of medicine amongst ourselves, but also with our other team members the nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, industry partners, our public health officials, our legislators and educators. I believe that the ACP with an organization of 132,000 members is in a key position to contribute to the solutions that will help us achieve these goals.
