Call for Volunteers

Consider participating in Midwestern University / Arizona College Of Medicine's EARLY CLINICAL EXPERIENCE PROGRAM. Midwestern has an immediate need for additional preceptors for first and second year medical students. As a Preceptor, you would allow the student to come to your office every other week for 2 hours and observe your interaction with your patients. When appropriate, they are to utilize their history taking and physical examination skills learned in class toward the completion of a history and physical, learn to assess a patient's condition, and develop case presentation skills.

The goals for this experience are:

  1. Develop a working relationship with a community-based physician
  2. Develop skills to work cooperatively with the physician and staff
  3. Begin to understand the professional and ethical issues facing physicians today
  4. Develop the communication skills needed to complete a H&P
  5. Assess a patient's condition and develop case presentation skills

Our past experience tells us that physicians find MWU students to be intelligent, highly motivated, and extremely grateful for your training experience. This physician-student working relationship proves to be very rewarding and academically stimulating. Most Preceptors look forward to having additional students rotate with them in the future. Note that all Midwestern students are fully covered by Midwestern University's malpractice insurance and are permitted to work with ancillary staff members under the direction of a physician. MWU students have privileges to train at most hospitals throughout the state.

BENEFITS TO YOU WOULD INCLUDE:

  1. Faculty Appointment at MWU
  2. Discounts at MWU medical bookstore
  3. Free access to Medical Electronic Resources through our campus library
  4. CME credit for teaching. CME credits are reported to each Preceptor annually

Please consider participating in this exciting program to "GIVE BACK" to the profession what someone once did for all of us. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Shulman or Dr. Parrack at any time.

Complete the response form and fax it as soon as possible to 623-572-3301 attention Linda Hammon-Sangirardi.
