Purpose And Responsibilities

Purpose:

Increase the number of chapter members in all categories - students, associates, members, fellows, and masters.

Members: Chair Allan L Markus, MD, FACP, Vice Chair Jaya Raj, MD FACP

Chair and vice chair will be initially appointed and then to be chosen from within the council at the end (May) of the academic year. It is suggested that the chair serve in the position for a minimum of two years. The chair and vice chair are members of the Governor's council.

Members are to be selected from the leadership of the College with emphasis on representation that is geographically, economically, and ethnically diverse representing all categories of "members" of the college in Arizona.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategies in conjunction with the ACP national office to increase membership.
  • Key emphasis will be on the recruitment of new member in medical schools, internal medicine residencies, medicine subspecialty fellowship programs.
  • Retention of current members
  • Promote the advancement to fellowship by eligible member
